Police in Nkhata Bay District have apprehended 41-year-old Buma Manda in connection with the brutal murder of 32-year-old Chikhulupiliro Chilora at Chitheka trading centre.
According to Chilora's wife, her husband had gone to the trading centre on August 15, 2024, to withdraw cash via Airtel Money. Upon arrival at around 5:00 pm, he was ambushed by a group of middle-aged men armed with weapons. They severely beat and stabbed Chilora, leaving him unconscious. He later succumbed to his injuries at Nkhata Bay District Hospital.
Following a report to Mzenga Police Unit, investigators launched an inquiry, leading to Manda's arrest on October 1, 2024. He has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in court soon.
Manda, a resident of Chisalanda Village, Traditional Authority Kabunduli, Nkhata Bay District, is currently in custody. Police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend additional suspects involved in Chilora's killing.
